Former Plateau State governor, Senator Jonah Jang, has dismissed rumours suggesting he is considering defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the reports as baseless and mischievous.
In a statement issued by his media consultant, Clinton Garuba, made available through his verified social media handle, Jang reaffirmed his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting he remains a committed and unwavering member of the party.
Garuba said his principal’s political convictions “have not changed,” adding that Jang has no intention, contemplation, or reason to leave the PDP for the APC or any other political platform.
He also debunked claims that Jang was aware of any plan by Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to dump the PDP, saying such insinuations existed only in the imagination of those attempting to create tension in the state’s political space.
According to him, “The repeated attempt to drag Da Jang’s name into speculative political narratives is unnecessary, misleading, and entirely without basis.”
Garuba said the former governor remains focused on supporting the stability of the PDP, strengthening democratic institutions, and promoting unity among stakeholders and citizens of Plateau State.
He urged the public, party members, and the media to disregard the rumours and resist efforts by mischief-makers to destabilise the political environment, while calling for responsible political engagement and accuracy in public discourse.
