The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has deployed reinforcements to the Bakin Ruwa border post in Bagudo LGA of Kebbi State following a deadly attack that claimed the lives of three personnel.

The Service described the incident as a violent and coordinated night assault on its checkpoint under the Tuga Border Patrol Formation. Revealing that several operational assets and facilities were also destroyed during the attack, which occurred at about 2200hrs on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the service public relations officer, ACI Akinsola Akinlabi, said the Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, was deeply pained by the loss of the “gallant officers” who died in the line of duty.

Akinlabi said the Service stands firmly with the families, colleagues and loved ones of the fallen personnel as they navigate the tragedy, reaffirming the NIS’s unwavering support and appreciation of their sacrifice.

According to him, the Comptroller General has ordered an immediate tactical response, including the deployment of reinforcements to the affected formation, intensified joint operations with sister security agencies, and strengthened intelligence-gathering along the Tuga axis. Patrols across the border corridor have also been heightened to deter further attacks and restore full security control of the area.

He  added that the NIS remains resolute in its mandate to secure Nigeria’s borders despite emerging threats, stressing that such acts of criminality will not deter its operatives from carrying out their statutory duties.

The Service urged members of the public to remain calm and continue cooperating with security agencies working to safeguard the nation.
