The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has concluded the screening of 106 aspirants seeking the party’s tickets for the State House of Assembly elections ahead of its forthcoming primaries.

Party officials said the exercise was conducted by a screening committee headed by Chief Judith Enanutor, as aspirants await the official release of the list of candidates cleared for the next phase of the process.

Speaking to journalists, Imo APC spokesperson, Dr. Jones Onwuasoanya, confirmed the total number of aspirants screened and urged party members to disregard speculations regarding alleged disqualifications.

According to him, no aspirant has been formally cleared or disqualified pending the release of the official screening outcome.

“The list of qualified aspirants will be published shortly. As at now, there is no list of qualified or disqualified aspirants,” Onwuasoanya said.

He added that reports of protests by disqualified aspirants were unfounded, stressing that such claims were premature before the official publication of results.

“The correct number of House of Assembly aspirants is 106,” he stated.

Onwuasoanya advised party members to rely only on verified communications from official APC channels, noting that internal processes were still ongoing.

The development comes as political activities intensify across Imo State ahead of the next election cycle, with parties ramping up preparations for primaries at various levels.

Observers say the high number of aspirants underscores growing competition within the APC in the state, as political alignments continue to shape the race for legislative seats across the 27 constituencies.
