Governor Hope Uzodimma has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State to unite and support the party’s decisions following the conclusion of its primary elections, urging aggrieved aspirants to accept the outcomes and work towards victory in 2027.

Speaking at an expanded stakeholders’ meeting in Owerri, Uzodimma said the party’s decisions on the primaries were final and binding, stressing the need for unity ahead of the general elections.

He appealed to members to put aside differences and align with the party’s candidates in order to strengthen APC’s chances in the 2027 polls.

According to him, it is important for Imo State and the entire South-East to consolidate their political relevance at the national level by delivering strong support for President Bola Tinubu in the coming election.

Uzodimma said his administration’s achievements in infrastructure and social development in Imo State were made possible through the support of the President.

“We must work harder to ensure that President Bola Tinubu gets a huge number of votes from this state in the coming election, as a show of gratitude for his sterling performance and especially, for his goodwill towards the State and the Southeast. It is to the credit of His Excellency President Bola Tinubu that I have changed the face of Imo State for the better,” he said.

He urged party members to remain committed and focused on strengthening the APC structure across the state, adding that internal reconciliation was necessary after a competitive primary process.

Also speaking, the Imo APC chairman, Chief Austin Onyedebelu, commended aspirants for their peaceful conduct and sportsmanship during the primaries.

He congratulated successful candidates and urged those who were not successful to remain patient and supportive of the party.

“Now that the primaries have come and gone, I warmly congratulate all those who emerged as candidates of our great party. To those who were not fortunate this time, I appeal for patience and understanding,” Onyedebelu said.

He praised Governor Uzodimma for providing leadership that ensured a peaceful and transparent primary process, noting that party discipline was largely maintained.

Onyedebelu assured aggrieved aspirants that they would still be accommodated in party activities and programmes ahead of the elections.

Several aspirants who participated in the primaries, including senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly contenders, attended the meeting and commended the party leadership for what they described as a fair and credible process.

Some of the aspirants present included Chief Longers Anyanwu, Lady Gloria Akobundu, Hon. Ike Kennedy Odoeme, Dr. Chijioke Kaduru and Hon. Belusochukwu Enwere, among others.

They pledged continued loyalty to the party and expressed support for its candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
