The Imo State government has expressed readiness to rehabilitate  illicit drug users  and re-integrate them into society.

The special adviser to the governor on narcotics and illicit drugs monitoring, Hon. Ezechukwu Obonna,  made the pledge while addressing newsmen in Owerri yesterday.

He said the state government was commitment to tackling drug abuse.

Speaking as part of activities to mark the 2025 International Day Against Drug Abuse, Obonna said to assist  in tackling  the menace, the state government had donated hilux vans to the state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

He added that the governor’s wife renovated a rehabilitation centre for the NDLEA to facilitate the treatment and reintegration of drug addicts.
