The Imo State Police Command has commenced an orderly room trial against four officers accused of extortion in a now viral video in Owerri by Young C Entertainment.

The officers, Inspector Ibrahim Nainna, Unaka Maxvirgin, Inspector Miller Ibinitta, and Sergeant Antony Alozie, who are currently detained in a police cell, were accused of extortion in Owerri, the Imo State capital, by Young C Entertainment.

Police spokesperson Henry Okoye disclosed in a statement yesterday, saying the orderly room trial was intended to ascertain Young C’s claims and prosecute indicted officers.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, Aboki Danjuma, commenced a physical assessment of the suspects held in cells within the command on Thursday.

Okoye said, “The Commissioner of Police in Imo state, CP Aboki Danjuma, and his management team are conducting inspections across various police divisions and tactical teams. This initiative aims to assess the conditions of suspects in detention and ensure that no individual is held beyond the legal limits. This move reflects a commitment to upholding the rights of detainees and improving overall police accountability”.

It will be recalled that a male online content promoter, Young C Entertainment, had taken to social media to accuse operatives of the anti-narcotics unit and the state criminal investigation department of maltreatment, extortion, illegal arrest and detention, and abandonment, among other accusations.

According to him, while in transit to shoot a movie, the four policemen stopped their vehicle despite repeated explanations that the fake currency on them was for movie production, as clearly printed on the papers.

Young C alleged that they were dumped in cell 12 with other suspects that exposed one to near death because of an asthma attack.

He further said there were several people denied access to food, family, and treatment and were starving and languishing in cell 12.

Meanwhile, police boss, Aboki Danjuma had begun a personal assessment of suspects held in different cells within the state command.
