Ride-hailing platform inDrive has hosted an appreciation event for drivers on its platform across Nigeria, where it also announced the launch of a new learning initiative, the inDrive Drivers Academy.

The event, held recently at Fame Lagos, Mayfair Hall, Purple Mall, Lekki Phase 1, brought together 50 top-performing drivers recognised by the company as platinum drivers. It was organised to acknowledge drivers’ contributions to mobility services and their role in the company’s operations nationwide.

Speaking at the event, the Country Representative, inDrive Nigeria, Oladimeji Timothy, said the gathering was part of the company’s efforts to build a trusted and respectful driver community based on fairness and partnership.

He said the newly launched inDrive Drivers Academy was designed to improve drivers’ professionalism by complementing their practical experience with structured learning.

According to him, the academy will include modules on vehicle condition, identity and verification, transparency, safe driving practices, respect for boundaries, and conflict management and resolution, with drivers required to complete them for professional certification.

Oladimeji noted that the initiative aims to improve driver experience and service quality while reinforcing the company’s commitment to drivers as key partners in its operations.

He added that the appreciation event reflects the company’s recognition of the role drivers play in daily transportation and its efforts to strengthen trust within its driver community.

One of the drivers at the event, George Uwem, commended the company for recognising drivers’ contributions and introducing initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and earnings.

Uwem said the planned academy would help drivers enhance their skills and deliver better passenger experiences.
