The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ebonyi State has called for the provision of adequate armed police personnel during the continuous voters’ registration (CVR) across the various registration centres in the 13 local government areas of the state for the protection of lives and property.
The Ebonyi State resident electoral commissioner (REC), Mrs Onyeka Pauline Ugochi, made the appeal during the stakeholder’s meeting on continuous voters’ registration in the state held at the state’s INEC headquarters, Abakaliki.
She said that the display of preliminary register of voters (PRVs) for claims and objections is one important aspect of the CVR but regretted that people often fail to participate in this aspect.
She maintained that PRVs are displayed at various registration centres after the registration for people to check for errors in their particulars or omission of their names for adequate corrections.
