The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent harassment and assault faced by Development Control officers in Lugbe, Abuja, allegedly by military personnel while they were performing their official duties.

NITP President Dr Chime Ogbonna led a delegation to the Department of Development Control at the Abuja Municipal Management Council (AMMC) headquarters. Following the alarming incident, the delegation expressed solidarity with Director Tpl Galadima Mukhtar and his staff.

During the visit, Ogbonna asserted that the Institute would not tolerate such actions and promised to take appropriate measures to address the situation.

He cautioned against future incidents, emphasising that those responsible will face necessary consequences.
Galadima Mukhtar expressed gratitude for the NITP’s support. He reassured them that the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness and ensuring justice.

This incident raises significant concerns regarding the safety and well-being of Development Control personnel. It highlights the crucial need for respect and protection for professionals performing their official duties.
