Institute To Awards Staff Honorary, Direct Membership

The Chartered Pension Institute of Nigeria (CPIN) has said it intends to honour top management staff with long years of experience and contributions towards the development of the pension industry with honorary/direct membership in its forthcoming induction program billed for June 26, 2025.

The executive secretary/chief executive officer, CPIN, Dr. Samson Akinyemi, in a document, said top management staff that have spent about 20 years or more in the pursuit of their career within and around the pension industry, along with their other qualifications, are exempted from writing all examinations and honorary fellowship will be granted to them.

He noted that, in the same vein, the institute would recognise and honour middle management staff who have by qualifications and years of experience distinguished themselves, adding that the institute is looking for people who have spent between 10 and 15 years in practice along with their organisations.

According to him, ‘If you are qualified for any of these special window, kindly contact us’

Dr. Akinyemi submitted that membership of the institute is open to the general public provided that such interested persons possess the prescribed qualifications and requirements for membership.

He said, the position of fellow is the highest level of membership of the Institute, stressing that to become a fellow, the candidate must have satisfied the Council that he/she has possessed the Associate Certificate of the Institute for not less than seven years immediately preceding the date of application, and that in addition, he or she must be the holder of approved academic qualifications and has creditably held a senior management position in a pension management company or related company or a senior lecturer in higher educational Institution for a period of not less than seven years.

The CPIN CEO maintained that, “to become an associate of the Institute, the candidate must have been employed in a pension management or related field and has passed the prescribed examination of the institute and is also an apt and proper person to be enrolled in the register. To write the associate examination, such a person must possess a minimum of a university’s first degree/HND or PTIC of this Institute.”

He noted that, for anyone to be awarded the PTI certificate, the person must have passed all the prescribed examinations for this stage, stressing that to write the examinations, the person must be an undergraduate in any university in Nigeria or ND/HND student of any polytechnic in Nigeria or must be an employee of pension management company or related held with a minimum of Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent..

The Institute, overtime, has conducted qualifying examinations leading to over 4,000 Associate and Fellow Members. Membership cut across both public and private sectors. In the same vein, the Institute has conducted workshops, seminars and other training, from which over 10, 000 Nigerians have benefitted.

The Institute is known in all sectors of the Nigerian Economy and has been part of the transformations going on in the economy, especially within the pension industry.

The institute’s examination is written twice in a year – May diet and November diet at designated centers in Nigeria and only duly registered students of the institute are eligible to sit or write any of the examination.
