By mastering the skill of decorating floors with these trendy options, you can establish a strong presence in the interior decorating world. Clients are always looking for unique and stylish flooring solutions, and being able to provide a wide range of choices will make you a sought-after decorator in the industry.

Speaking with an interior designer, the founder of Shoba Luxury and Style Home Decor, Michael Shobanjo, noted that the trend towards luxury floor decoration is driven by its aesthetic appeal. Certain types of composite flooring, such as those that blend stone and plastic, offer unique benefits like waterproof and fireproof qualities, as well as a non-slip surface.

These features contribute to enhancing the visual appeal of interiors, distinguishing them from conventional options like tiles or marble. Moreover, the slip-resistant nature of these materials makes them particularly attractive, especially during the rainy season, when safety concerns are heightened.

The growing demand for these premium flooring options is evident in various markets, including spas, gyms, residences, offices, and other diverse settings. These imported materials can be sourced from locations like Mushin Market, Orile Market, and Ojuelegba, where they are typically by square metres.

Investment Capital

Individuals aspiring to become floor decorators must undergo training under experienced professionals in the field. Michael himself invested N90,000 in a comprehensive training programme lasting three to six months, covering both theoretical knowledge and practical skill acquisition.

Income

Launching a floor decoration business requires a substantial initial investment, estimated at around N800,000. This capital outlay encompasses the procurement of essential tools such as a G saw, a circular machine, and other equipment approximately N300,000, in addition to expenses related to flooring materials and office space rental.

In terms of potential earnings, a floor decorator can expect to generate between N250,000 and N350,000 on average per month, with the possibility of reaching up to N800,000 during peak periods.

Advice

Ensuring accurate measurements is crucial, with a recommended practice of allowing for a slight excess to avoid material shortages. Clients are unlikely to cover the costs of additional materials if a shortfall occurs, underscoring the importance of meticulous planning and execution.
