IPAC Applauds Tribunal Judgement On Ogun Gov’ship

Ogun State chapter of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) yesterday applauded the verdict of the state’s Election Petition Tribunal which affirmed the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun as winner of the March 18 governorship contest in the state.

This is just as IPAC also urged the state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its governorship candidate in the election, Hon. Ladi Adebutu to discontinue their planned appeal of the tribunal’s judgement, but join hands with Abiodun in his quest at “moving the state to prosperity”.

At a press conference addressed yesterday in Abeokuta, the state capital, IPAC’s state chairman, Engr. Samson Okusanya described the Justice Hamidu Kunaza led tribunal’s judgement that affirmed Abiodun’s victory as fair enough to all parties in the case.

The politicians’ advisory council said it was compelled to publicly commend the tribunal’s judgement on Ogun electoral dispute due to a statement credited to the Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) wherein it described the verdict as “another miscarriage and travesty of justice in Nigeria”.

Okusanya explained that IPAC wouldn’t have dignified CRPP with any response on the matter, “but for the benefit of the few in the public who may innocently be misinformed”, hence, the need to react to the said statement.

“We find their arguments empty and blind, where they claimed they were perplexed by the Tribunal’s reliance on technicalities involving procedural issues and semantics of the interpretation of words over the substance and core realities of the case,” they said.
