The Yobe State faction of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has endorsed the decision of its opponent on the postponement of the proposed local government elections scheduled to take place in November, 2023.

The IPAC chairman led faction had on Tuesday, appealed for the postponement of the November 25 local government elections until after the rainy season and harvest of farm produce.

The IPAC faction leader, who is also the secretary of the council Abdullahi Bello, in a statement in Damaturu said though they are not happy the chairman did not consult them while taking the decision for the postponement they agreed that the election should be shifted.

Bello said it was disheartening that despite most of them being the executive of the IPAC, the chairman decided to go ahead and take decisions on their behalf without their knowledge.

“We wish to inform our teaming supporters and party members that we took that decision owing to the fact that none of our parties was invited or informed of the meeting that IPAC held to take that decision. We just saw it in the news.

“Despite the fact that some of us are among the elected executive members of IPAC.

This, among others, informs our decision to summon another meeting on Friday 8th September, 2023.

“In our meeting today after making extensive consultations, we the undersigned political parties unanimously agreed to call on the Yobe State Government to suspend the forthcoming November Local Government Election based on the following reasons, time constraint and economic hardship under which our parties cannot prepare to face the elections without a hitch.

“It is the end of the rainy season, harvest time and food transportation from the farms. This may constraint our supporters from participating fully in the campaign and election activities,” the faction leader said.

Bello apologised to their teaming supporters for making their decision late.

The IPAC faction equally commended governor Mai Mala Buni for all-inclusive policies leadership expressing hope that his administration will accept the decision to shift the local government election to another appropriate date.
