IPCR Lauds Plateau Govt For Establishing Peace Building Agency

The director general, Institute for Peace and Conflicts Resolution (IPCR) Dr. Joseph Ochogwu has applauded Plateau State Government for its efforts in sustaining peace. He also acknowledged the government’s unwavering political will for development and human capacity building even in times of crisis.

Ochogwu stated this while leading a delegation from (IPCR) on a courtesy visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang at Old Government House in Jos the state capital.

The director general also applauded the state for being among the first to establish the Peace Building Agency following national-level recommendations.

He emphasised that peace requires constant nurturing, vigilance, and active participation while calling on citizens to reject division, hatred and instead embrace tolerance, empathy, and compassion.

Governor Mutfwang who was represented by his deputy, Josephine Piyo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering peace, unity and development in the state.

According to him, peace goes beyond the absence of conflict adding that it encompasses harmony, cooperation, and mutual respect among individuals and communities.

He stressed that in a peaceful state, people can live and work together in unity, creating a sense of security and well-being for all.

The governor encouraged citizens to consider peace as a fundamental value crucial for societal progress and prosperity and urged them to uphold the principles of peace in their interactions in their communities.
