Ipswich Town’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed on Saturday as the Tractor Boys were beaten by Newcastle United even with four matches before the end of the season.
Goals from Alexander Isak and Dan Burn secured all three points for Newcastle against Ipswich and ensured the Tractor Boys will be playing Championship football once again next season.
A tough afternoon for Ipswich started badly when Ben Johnson was sent off in the first half, before a penalty on the stroke of half-time from Isak gave the visitors a mountain to climb.
Further goals from Dan Burn and William Osula finished Ipswich off and ensured they claim the final relegation spot in the Premier League for the 2024-25 season.
There’s no doubt it’s been a tough season for Ipswich. Kieran McKenna’s side have managed just four wins in the Premier League, while defeat to Newcastle was their 21st from 34 matches in the English top flight.
A tough summer may be in the offing too, with top Premier League clubs believed to be interested in striker Liam Delap who could be set to depart the club for £30 million.
Although Ipswich will finish off their Premier League campaign playing against Everton, Brentford, Leicester and West Ham, their fate has however been sealed.
