Irigwe Youths Movement (IYM) in Bassa local government area (LGA) of Plateau State has unveiled the identities of seven persons killed by suspected herdsmen in Angwan Rimi in Kamaru Ward, Kauru LGA of Kaduna State.
In a statement issued yesterday by the group in Jos, the Plateau State capital, its national publicity secretary, Joseph Chudu, said there was an attack on Monday morning by suspected militia herdsmen where seven Irigwe people were killed and eight others severely injured.
Chudu named the victims as Jacob Zakka, Felicia Francis, Magaret Mathias, Veronica Paul, Delight Paul, Confidence Yakubu and Sati Markus.
Those who sustained various degrees of injuries were Matthew Sunday, Jethro Istafanus, Jackson Istafanus, Emmanuel Morris, Agatha Sylvester, Joy Markus, Divine Paul, and Mary Ishaya, a six-year-old child.
The leadership of IYM urged the Kaduna and Plateau State governments to ensure the safety of Irigwe people and their communities.
Chudu also urged security agencies to rise to the occasion with a view to halting the continuous carnage of the Irigwe people.
