Nigerian Soul Jazz musician, Shade Aboderin popularly known as Shady Blue has bared her mind on the tough terrain female singers find themselves in trying to forge a successful career in music and as well build a family.

The UK-based musician who has made her mark in the music industry, noted that it’s not an easy walk to be a performer musician as a female in Nigeria and all over the world even as she pointed out that the male folks musicians get away with a lot of things.

Shady Blue who hails from ancient city of Ibadan, Oyo State, was dressed in flowery dress and the suave,  gorgeous lady who came to Nigeria for her gig ‘Shady Blue Live In Lagos’, said she was happy to be In Nigera.

Weighing on the challenges women face, she said, “I started music from a young age and traveled to UK. I was part of the JJC 419 Skills, the only girl I’m the group which had Abdulrasheed Bello, the founder; Don Jazzy and D’Banj who came later to join the group.

I was part of a girl group that made waves in my hood. With my experience in music spanning a decade plus, it is difficult for a woman in music to thrive as a lot of things are  involved. I am telling you that I am in the music industry and I have seen that female artistes are not really protected and often faces differently challenges that men do not, “ say Shady Blue.
