American music mogul Jay-Z has filed court documents in a bankruptcy case involving Lillie Coley, seeking to prevent the court from erasing a $119,000 debt she was ordered to pay him.
The court previously awarded the sum to Jay-Z after determining that Coley made fraudulent statements and misrepresentations intended to harass him over a decade-long period.
Coley is the godmother of Rymir Satterthwaite, who has repeatedly claimed that Jay-Z is his biological father, a claim the rapper has continuously denied and fought in court.
Jay-Z’s legal team argued that the debt should not be wiped out in bankruptcy because it stems from intentional harassment and unfounded legal filings that have cost the artist hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees.
Coley has requested the court dismiss Jay-Z’s petition, citing procedural issues, while the bankruptcy case remains ongoing.
