The Chairman, 2023 Regional Convention of Jehovah Witnesses, Mr Ahmadu Garba, has described patience as an important virtue for Christians.

Garba spoke during the Jehovah Witnesses’ Convention held in Kwali area of Abuja with the theme; “Exercise Patience!”

The chairman expressed concern over the impatient attitude of many in the world today.

“Today we live in a world that is filled with impatience, we want to be careful not to allow the impatience of the world to rub off on us and we saw example of how our Creator, Jehovah is patient as we also examined how Jesus, His son is equally patient as well as how several faithful servants of God of old in the past were patient hence the need for us to embrace this good virtue,” Mr Garba stated.

According to him, the delegates at the convention will be better informed on the importance of this vital christian quality and they will learn how to be patient with their parents, children, spouses and others by being considerate, forgiving and merciful.

In a remark, Regional Spokesperson for Jehovah Witnesses in Abuja, Mr Femi Akinlade, said about 6,000 conventions would be held worldwide as part of the 2023 “Exercise Patience Convention” series.

Akinlade stated that in Nigeria alone, over 320 conventions would be held in 39 host cities.

“From Friday through Sunday, six convention sessions will explore the quality of patience, highlighting its modern day relevance through scriptural examples among other activities as well as baptism,” the spokesperson explained.

He added that delegates and interested Christians as well as other Nigerians could be part of the convention by logging onto the website of Jehovah Witnesses: www.jw.org

One of the delegates at the Convention, Mrs Lydia Onuoha, said she appreciated the reminders to be patient with others.

A newly baptized young boy, Brian Ojegwo, said the programme has helped him to develop the virtue of patience as he strengthens his relationship with Jehovah.

The convention, which is being attended by about 2,000 delegates, featured baptism of 25 delegates, among others.
