The immediate past member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Micah Jiba, has called for transparent and credible primaries ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) exercise scheduled to hold tomorrow.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja, Jiba cautioned against alleged attempts to impose candidates on party members, insisting that the strength of the All Progressives Congress lies in internal democracy and respect for the will of the people.

He expressed confidence that the primaries would proceed peacefully and fairly despite speculations surrounding the emergence of so-called “anointed candidates.”

“The voice of the people remains the heartbeat of the APC. Our party must continue to uphold fairness, transparency and the democratic choice of members rather than the dictates of a few individuals,” he said.

Jiba noted that his political experience and grassroots connection distinguish him in the race, recalling his progression from councillor to Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and later member of the House of Representatives.

According to him, his years in public service have provided him with the experience required to effectively represent the people of AMAC and Bwari.

“The President needs tested grassroots mobilisers who understand the realities of the people and can bridge the gap between leadership and ordinary citizens. My track record shows that I do not merely occupy office; I engage with the people and deliver impactful representation,” he stated.

The former lawmaker reaffirmed his support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, pledging to work in alignment with ongoing development initiatives in the nation’s capital.

He said closer collaboration between the legislature and the executive would help accelerate infrastructural development and improve living conditions across communities within the constituency.

Jiba also maintained that the APC requires a candidate with genuine grassroots popularity to secure victory in the 2027 general elections.

“We cannot afford to experiment with unpopular candidates when the objective is to ensure victory for the party. If given the mandate to fly the APC flag, I will pursue reforms that align with the leadership vision of President Tinubu and the infrastructural transformation currently ongoing in the FCT,” he said.

He urged party supporters and delegates to come out in large numbers for the primaries and ensure that their votes are protected and counted.

“The people of AMAC and Bwari are eager to return to the era of visible impact and inclusive representation. Tomorrow, their voices must be heard clearly,” he added.
