Jigawa State governor, Malam Umar Namadi, has asked the people to be united, dedicated and patriotic to realise the dream of the founding fathers, who laboured for its creation 35 years ago.
In a 35th anniversary message he sent to the people of the state, Namadi congratulated them on the journey and maintained that the creation of the state had brought governance closer to the people, with significant progress in rural and community development.
In the message sent through his chief press secretary, Muhammad Hamisu Gumel, the governor paid tribute to the founding fathers, elder statesmen, religious and community leaders, public servants, professionals, women and youth leaders, civil society organisations, development partners, and all citizens who contributed to the growth of Jigawa State.
Governor Namadi also acknowledged the contributions of successive leaders of the state, who laid the foundation upon which he is building on to take the state to the next level of prosperity and greatness.
Namadi reiterated his administration’s commitment to promoting equity, justice, accountability, and effective public service delivery for sustainable growth and development of the state.
The governor described the anniversary as a moment to “honour yesterday, serve today, and prepare for tomorrow,” urging the residents to renew their commitment to building a Jigawa that is peaceful, prosperous, inclusive, disciplined, and knowledge-driven.
He further called for continued understanding, patience and support from the people as his administration pursues its development agenda, anchored on sustainable development, socioeconomic wellbeing, peace and prosperity for all.
