The coalition of All Progressive Congress (APC) Supporters in Jigawa State has urged the national leadership of the party to take disciplinary action against its national financial secretary, Bashir Gumel, over alleged insubordination and divisive tendencies.
The chairman of the group, Saidu Uba who made the call at a press conference in Dutse, expressed worry over how the APC official has shifted his loyalty to individuals rather than to the party as an institution.
He noted that, the group condemned the attitude and utterances exhibited by Gumel during a political gathering in Kafin Hausa local government area, describing the actions as unwholesome.
The group also faulted the APC National Working Committee member for attending an event that was not approved by the state party leadership due to its unpopular and anti-party nature.
“We also condemn in totality the inciting, inflammatory, and derogatory statements made by Alhaji Bashir against the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, His Excellency Mallam Umar Namadi, FCA, and the entire state party leadership,” the group stated.
“The unguided utterances of Mr Bashir caused unrest, leading to chaos, injuries to innocent citizens, and destruction of property, which is totally against our great party’s constitution.
“In view of this, we draw attention to these flagrant breaches of the APC Constitution – Article 21 A (vi), (vii), and (x), which deal with: engaging in acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute, disrespect to party leadership, and the promoting of factionalism,” Uba added.
The group called on the national leadership of the APC to immediately investigate these alleged anti-party activities, which they say have caused public unrest, disunity, and embarrassment to the party.
All efforts to hear from the national financial secretary proved abortive as he could not pick phone call or respond to text message sent to his mobile line as at press time.
