The Jigawa State Executive Council under the chairmanship of His Excellency, Mallam (Dr.) Umar Namadi, FCA. deliberated and approved ₦91,043,575,816.69, for the execution of some critical projects that align with the administration’s 12-Point Agenda and the vision for a Greater Jigawa. The projects aimed at enhancing service delivery, strict adherence to government financial regulations, due process, and effective monitoring mechanisms.

The approved projects further underscore the state government’s commitment to renewable energy, climate change adaptation and mitigation, as well as sustainable development across the health, education, road infrastructure, solar power, and environmental protection sectors.
According to Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa, the state commissioner of Health, who briefed newsmen on behalf of the state Commissioner of Information, Youth, Sports & Culture Hon Sagir Musa,the approved projects include:

1. Award of contract for electrification and Solarisation of selected government institutions and MDAs at ₦689,383,257.83. This include the procurement of transformers and substations for Jigawa State Polytechnic Dutse; GDSTC Gumel, Babura and Kafin Hausa; JTV; NYSC Orientation Camp; Dutse Township Stadium; Specialist Hospitals in Hadejia and Kazaure; General Hospitals in Ringim, Birnin Kudu and Bulangu; Khadija University; Bamaina Academy; Sara, Gujungu and Maigatari Markets; as well as Jigawa State Polytechnic of Communication and Information Technology, Kazaure

2. Award of contract for the construction of CNG conversion workshop training centres and gas conversion centres in Dutse and Hadejia at a total cost of ₦563,003,475.71 (₦214,145,586.71 for Dutse and ₦348,857,889.00 for Hadejia).

3. Award of contract for the construction of solar-powered mini-grids at Government House, Deputy Governor’s Office, official residences of the SSG and HOS, State Secretariat Complex, House of Assembly, Judiciary Complex, and Shuwarin/Gidan Ihu Water Plant, at a total cost of ₦15,242,401,992.00

4. Approval of budget adjustment, involving the reallocation of ₦4.5 billion from Market Development and ₦1.0 billion from the Stabilization Fund to the Ministry of Works for payment of mobilization for township road construction.
5. Award of contract for the construction of township roads in Dutse Phase II (20.36km), Kafin Hausa (19km), Gumel Bypass (12km), Dangyatim Township Road (4.2km), and Doko in Garki LGA (4km), covering a total distance of 58.56km, at the cost of ₦57,798,380,827.20.
6. Award of contract for the construction of mosques at GDTQ Yusuf Dantanoma, Yalleman in Kaugama, Fadawa, Sarawa in Kafin Hausa, and Rigar Liman in Maigatari, by the Islamic Education Bureau, at a total cost of ₦204,027,847.50.
7. Award of contract for the construction of a Centre for Wetland Research at Sule Lamido University, Kafin Hausa, at the cost of ₦557,081,291.25.
8. Award of contract for the construction of hostel and staff quarters at the Skill Acquisition Centre, Limawa, Dutse, at a total cost of ₦1,070,345,133.90.
9. Award of contract for the renovation and remodelling of the Skill Acquisition Centre, Ringim, at a total cost of ₦506,577,401.40.
10.Award of contracts for the renovation, remodelling, upgrading, and equipping of health facilities, including General Hospitals in Hadejia, Gumel, Kazaure and Birniwa; renovation of the Psychiatric Hospital, Kazaure; upgrade of General Hospitals in Gwiwa, Garki, Guri, Gantsa, Gagarawa and Kirikasamma; supply of medical equipment to the Orthopaedic Hospital, Gumel; and provision of dialysis equipment to General Hospitals in Dutse, Ringim and Kazaure, at a total cost of ₦8,051,282,260.58.
11.In line with the state government’s efforts to curb flooding, approval was granted for the construction of drainage systems at Tumballe and Garun Gabas in Mallam Madori LGA; Kila Town, Farin Dutse and Gwaram General Hospital in Gwaram LGA; Maigatari Town in Maigatari LGA; Kafin Hausa Town in Kafin Hausa LGA; and College of Education, Gumel, at a total cost of ₦4,885,603,497.79.
12.To sustain Jigawa State’s status as an Open Defecation-Free (ODF) state, approval was granted for the construction of two blocks of public conveniences at Kubsa, Sara and Babura Markets, at the cost of ₦359,250,552.00.
13.Award of contract for the procurement of tools for the Jigawa Tech Talent Acquisition Programme at the cost of ₦210,246,845.00, in line with the state’s aspiration to become an ICT hub by nurturing start-up talents among the youth.
14.Approval for the procurement of vehicles—Toyota Corolla cars, one 18- seater bus, and one Hilux vehicle—for the Jigawa State Senior Secondary School Education Board, at a total cost of ₦329,111,250.00.
15.Award of contract for drainage infrastructure for stormwater management in Kiyawa Town, at the total cost of ₦576,880,184.54.
16.Approval of the revised Food Safety Policy and Guidelines, submitted by the committee constituted by the Executive Council, following a memorandum earlier presented by the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Climate Chang.
