The Jigawa State Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board has announced the disbursement of over N1.8 billion in entitlements to 702 beneficiaries.

In a statement released by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Ismail Ibrahim, the Executive Secretary, Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu, revealed that the funds were allocated to individuals who retired between January 2023 and January 2024.

Aliyu outlined the four beneficiary categories, noting that the first group of 577 recipients, including those who retired due to the mandatory retirement age or 35 years of service, received their payments. The second group of 86 beneficiaries comprised those who passed away while in active service.

The third group of 38 recipients had retired and started receiving monthly pensions but unfortunately died before completing the minimum five-year post-retirement period. The final category included one beneficiary who had not contributed for the required five-year minimum period, yet received payment with a 15% interest.
