Joe Biden’s Cancer Spread To His Bones, Says Son

Former United States President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread to his bones and is worsening, with his son, Hunter Biden, describing the condition as painful and debilitating.

Hunter disclosed this in an emotional interview with the BBC, offering a fresh and deeply personal account of his 83-year-old father’s battle with advanced prostate cancer.

According to Hunter, the cancer has metastasised beyond Biden’s prostate and into his bones, leaving the former president in significant pain.

“It’s really sad to watch,” Hunter said while discussing his father’s condition, adding that he wished Biden would be more open about the difficulties he is experiencing.

Despite the progression of the disease, Hunter said his father has continued to remain active and speak publicly on issues he considers important.

“He’s still doing his thing,” Hunter said, noting that Biden remains deeply committed to the United States.

The disclosure comes as new reports continue to focus on the former president’s deteriorating health and the impact of the illness on his family.

Biden was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer in May 2025, shortly after leaving the White House.

His office disclosed at the time that the cancer had already spread to his bones and was hormone-sensitive, meaning it could be managed with treatment.

Biden subsequently underwent radiation and hormone therapy as part of his treatment.

His wife, former First Lady Jill Biden, has also recently spoken about his condition, saying the family has been dealing with the reality that the disease is likely to remain a long-term challenge.

The latest disclosure by Hunter, however, provides a more intimate picture of the former president’s condition, with his son acknowledging the emotional difficulty of watching his father live with the disease.

Hunter said Biden rarely complains about his condition, even as he continues to participate in public life.

The former president has made appearances at political and public events since leaving office, maintaining a presence within Democratic circles despite stepping away from the presidency.

Biden served as the 46th president of the United States from 2021 to January 2025. He became the oldest person to serve as president, with questions about his age and health becoming increasingly prominent during his final years in office.

Those concerns intensified during the 2024 presidential campaign following his widely criticised debate performance against Donald Trump, after which Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.

His subsequent cancer diagnosis added another major health challenge after his departure from the White House.

Hunter’s latest comments are likely to renew public attention on the former president’s health, particularly because they come directly from a member of his family and describe the disease as increasingly painful and debilitating.

Despite the health setback, Hunter said Biden remains determined to continue speaking out on issues affecting the country.

The former president is also preparing a memoir, Promise Me, America, which is expected to be released after the 2026 midterm elections.
