Plateau State commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon Joshua Ubandoma Laven, has said Governor Caleb Mutfwang  had mandated  him to make Jos one of the cleanest state capitals in Nigeria.

According to Laven, the ministry would make sure it secures a befitting accommodation for the governor.

“He is the number one citizen of the state and therefore we should not hold him to ransom. We should ensure that his accommodation is our priority so that we can get the best from him,” he said.

The commissioner challenged people of the state to obey the laid down procedure for erecting structures, stressing that nobody should erect buildings anyhow just because he or she owned a land.

He said the ministry and the Jos Metropolitan Development Board (JMDB must give approval before erection of any structure. He added that the responsibility of the ministry is to beautify  the state capital and they would not want a state capital to be full of shanties.

Laven further pointed out that the ministry has been redundant for a very long time, which is not healthy for the state stressing that is the most reason why government structures are in a delipidated state in the state.
