In an effort to transform primary education in rural Nigeria, the founder of Julie Development Initiative (JDI), Princess Mayolein MacDonald has unveiled the initiative, which aims to revive the historic Adibom Community Primary School, promoting quality education and community development.

MacDonald, an engineer and farmer, drew inspiration from her own experiences and the contrasting realities of education in Aberdeen and her native community. The initiative is named in honor of her late mother, Queen Juliana MacDonald Jamala, who emphasised the importance of education for young people.

She stated that “the JDI extends beyond education, engaging local female farmers and community leaders to sustain school operations and boost the local economy.”

According to her, a recent fundraiser in Aberdeen successfully raised critical funds for the school and strengthened ties between the Odual Kingdom and Aberdeen.

“Through the JDI, I am preserving my mother’s legacy and building a future where education empowers individuals and transforms communities. The initiative serves as a testament to the power of unity and education’s transformative potential.”

She added that “the Julie Development Initiative (JDI) aims to revitalise primary education in rural Nigeria. The initiative’s maiden project focuses on reviving the Adibom Community Primary School.”

MacDonald stated that “her effort promotes quality education, community development, and economic empowerment.
