No fewer than 13 persons have been burnt to death following an auto crash at Abule Panu before Ose Bridge, on Owo-Ikare highway in Ondo State on Saturday.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the only surviving person in the accident was rescued with serious injuries.

The ghastly accident was said to have occurred at about 10:14 am and claimed the lives of 13 commuters on the spot in two buses involved.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the victims were burnt beyond recognition when the two buses had a head-on collision.

An eyewitness told LEADERSHIP that one of the buses, which was coming from the Ikare axis had a tyre burst, a development that led to loss of control and a resultant head-on collision with the incoming bus from the opposite direction loaded with fabrics.

Confirming the accident, the Ondo Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ibitoye Samuel, said a total of 14 people were involved out of which 13 were burnt beyond recognition while only one was rescued alive with serious injuries.

Samuel said: “Immediately after the collision, the two buses went up in flames. The men of FRSC, Police and Fire Service were swiftly at the crash scene for rescue.
