JUST IN: Abductors Of Nasarawa’s LG Chairman Demand N50m Ransom

The abductors of Akwanga Local Government Council Chairman, Alhaji Safiyanu Isah Andaha, and his associate, Adamu Umar Tanko, have demanded a ransom of N50 million for their release.

A family source, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed to journalists on Tuesday that negotiations are underway between the family and the kidnappers.

The duo were kidnapped alongside others on Monday around 8:30 pm along the Andaha-Akwanga road. The identities of the other abducted individuals remain unverified at this time.

Mr. Haruna Kassimu, the Special Adviser to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, confirmed the incident to journalists. He said that the council boss was abducted at Ningo village along the Akwanga – Andaha road in the Akwanga Local Government Area.

Kassimu stated that security agencies were alerted and are actively pursuing the kidnappers to rescue the chairman and the other hostages.

He added that security forces swiftly responded, chasing the abductors who fled with the council chairman to an undisclosed location.

The state Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, reported that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are diligently pursuing the kidnappers to secure the captives’ release.

Nansel also conveyed Commissioner of Police, Umar Nadada’s assurance that his personnel will work tirelessly to ensure the safe and swift release of the abducted individuals.
