JUST-IN: Bandits Kill 13 Residents In Niger Communities

A total of thirteen (13) persons were on Tuesday night killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits in Mariga local government area of Niger State.

LEADERSHIP learnt that the killings took place at Magoro, Kumbashi and Bangi, the headquarters of the local government area.

Among those killed were three local vigilantes and a policeman, who were stationed at various parts of the area.

The bandits reportedly stormed the communities on 150 motorcycles with sophisticated weapons, taking the villagers by surprise and firing sporadically during which 13 residents were killed while scores others were injured in the attack.

Chairman of Mariga local government area, Alhaji Abbas Kasuwa Garba confirmed the attack.

Garba, who said he could not confirm the actual number of casualties, disclosed that the area has been thrown into serious tension as bandits were going from one community to another to unleash terror.
