JUST-IN: Fubara To Swear In New Rivers LG Chairmen Less 24 Hours After Poll

Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, will be today Sunday swear in the newly elected chairmen of the 23 local government areas of the state.

Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Justice Adolphus Enebeli (Rtd), had on Saturday evening announced that the opposition Action Peoples Congress (APP) won 22 out of the 23 local government chairmanship seats in the October 5 elections in the State.

Enebeli, however, said the result for Etche local government area was being collated as at the time of the announcement, and the outcome will be announced later.

Rivers LG Polls: APP Thanks Party Faithful, Supporters Over Landslide Victory

The secretary to the state government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Sunday afternoon, said the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected 22 local government chairmen will take place by 4:00pm.

The statement read in part: “His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, will today Sunday, October 6, 2024, swear-in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4pm.

“The newly elected Chairmen, along with one (1) guest each, are expected to be seated by 3:30pm.”
