Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Monday invaded Dogon Ruwa Community in Wase local government area of Plateau state where they abducted a husband, his wife and their child and took them to unknown destination.
A reliable source from the area told our correspondent that two persons also sustained gunshot wounds during the invasion.
According to the source, the incident occurred at about 11am when residents of the area were going about their normal activities.
A youth leader in the area, Shapi’i Sambo also confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
He said the gunmen arrived in the community and started shooting sporadically to scare members of the community away before abducting their victims.
Sambo also said security personnel and vigilante members have moved into the bush to rescue the victims.
He said, “When the gunmen arrived the community, people were going about their normal activities. The gunmen started shooting sporadically to disperse residents.
“Many people fled to safety. Unfortunately, a man, wife and child were abducted. The armed men came with sophisticated weapons”.
He added that the two injured persons have been taken to hospital in Dogo Ruwa for treatment.
Meanwhile, spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, DSP Alabo Alfred has not responded to inquiry by our correspondent regarding the incident as at the time of filling this report.
