JUST-IN: IGP Orders Probe Of Abuja Airport Incident Involving KWAM 1

Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the Lagos Airport Police Command to investigate the incident involving iconic Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, over an incident that occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Internationa Airport, Abuja, last week.

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed the receipt of an official petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) over the incident.

A statement on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi confirmed that the NCAA reported the incident on August 5, 2025.

Confirming the directive to LEADERSHIP on Tuesday night, the FPRO said the IGP has directed the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command to immediately begin a thorough investigation into the matter, to unravel the circumstances which led to the ugly incident and ensure that justice is served accordingly.

Police assured the public of its commitment to upholding safety and security within Nigeria’s aviation sector, while assuring stakeholders in the sector of improved collaboration towards aviation security and strict compliance with aviation laws.

It would be recalled that KWAM1 was accused of engaging in unruly conduct where allegedly obstructed safe operation of an aircraft, said to be in violation of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023.
