Armed robbers unleashed terror in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, on Friday, targeting a man who had just completed a bank transaction.

The victim, whose identity was yet to be confirmed, was trailed by the assailants from a new generation bank where he had gone for a cash withdrawal.

Eyewitnesses reported that the robbers followed the man to Phase II, Lokongoma area, near a market in Lokoja. There, they intercepted his car, forcibly removed him, and shot him dead. The attackers made off with a bag containing an undisclosed amount of money that the victim had withdrawn from the bank.

Efforts to get a reaction from the Kogi State Police Command have so far been unsuccessful, as calls placed to the phone of the Command’s spokesman went unanswered.
