Many people were feared dead following a fuel tanker explosion that took place at Ugwu Onyeama in Udi local government area of Enugu State on Saturday.

Sources disclosed that the explosion occurred around 11:30am when a fuel-laden tanker exploded while navigating the busy expressway.

The blast was described as devastating as it destroyed nearby vehicles and caused widespread panic.

NUPENG Expresses Sadness Over Fuel Tanker Explosion In Niger

Sources stated that the victims who were reportedly burnt beyond recognition were believed to be occupants of the vehicles caught in the inferno.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities were yet to confirm the exact number of casualties or the cause of the explosion as investigations continued.
