The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), on Monday evening, abstained from a meeting called by the federal government to discuss issues around the proposed two-day warning strike slated to begin on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
The meeting was convened by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong, who earlier appealed to the organised labour to selve the impending strike.
Already, many of the affiliate groups of the NLC have concluded mobilisation process ahead of the warning strike.
However, LEADERSHIP observed that it was only the leadership of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) led by its national president, Festus Osifo, that showed up for the meeting which was scheduled to commence at about 5:30pm on Monday.
The meeting has gone into a closed-door session with the Minister appealing to the journalists to excuse the stakeholders to deliberate on critical issues.
