The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of yet-to-be ascertained number of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) along the East-West Road in Rivers State.

The abduction of the youths came barely 24 hours after the chairman of Emohua local government area of the state, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, placed a bounty of N1million on a 22-year-old Onuigwe Wodi, for his involvement in the killing of policemen, cultism, kidnapping and armed robbery along the East-West Road.

Lloyd also announced the withholding of the salaries of operatives of the Emohua Vigilante Service (EMOVIS) following their inability to check the rising crime rate in the local government area.

The youth corps members were returning to Port Harcourt from the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ondo State, when gunmen suspected to be kidnappers hijacked their bus in the Emohua axis of the East-West Road on Tuesday night.
