The Supreme Court has declared Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State as the validly elected governor of the state.

The apex court dismissed the appeal filed by the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate, Saddique Abubakar, challenging Mohammed’s election and declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the validly elected governor of the state.

The court said the appeal against his election lacked merit and was dismissed accordingly.

Recall that both the Election Petitions Tribunal and Court of Appeal had dismissed Sadiqque Abubakar’s case against the governor’s election for lacking in merit.

Abubakar had contended that several electoral documents used during the March 18 governorship poll in Bauchi State were not properly filled.
