Understrength Nigeria’s Super Eagles, missing star power like Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman, held World Cup-bound Poland to a thrilling 2-2 draw in an international friendly on Wednesday, preserving their impressive unbeaten run.
The Super Eagles defied expectations, taking the lead in the 23rd minute through Terem Moffi, assisted by Moses Simon. However, Poland quickly responded with Bartosz Slisz levelling the score just two minutes later. The first half concluded with the score locked at 1-1.
Nigeria regained the advantage in the 77th minute when Paul Onuachu coolly converted a penalty.
It seemed the Super Eagles were on course for a famous victory, but Poland’s pressure eventually told. In the dying moments of the match, five minutes into injury time, Patryk Wisniewski found the net for the hosts, snatching a dramatic equaliser and denying Nigeria a win.
Despite the late concession, this hard-fought draw against a formidable opponent will be seen as a significant achievement for the Super Eagles.
