Kaduna 2027: Uba Sani Picks Jerry Adams As Running Mate

Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani, has named the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS), Mr. Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election, saying the choice reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, justice, equity and competence.

The governor announced Adams’ nomination in a statement on Tuesday, describing the decision as the outcome of wide consultations, deep reflection and prayers.

He said the nomination was more than the selection of a deputy governorship candidate, stressing that it reaffirmed the principles that have guided his administration since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.

“This decision is far greater than the selection of a deputy governorship candidate. It is a reaffirmation of the values that have guided our administration since I took the oath of office on 29 May 2023; the values of inclusion, justice, fairness, equity and the unwavering conviction that every citizen of Kaduna State deserves a genuine sense of belonging.”

Uba Sani said Kaduna’s ethnic, religious and cultural diversity remained one of its greatest strengths, noting that his administration had consistently pursued policies aimed at fostering unity, dialogue and equitable development across the state.

He said government investments in roads, education, healthcare, water supply, agriculture, rural development and social protection had been spread across the 23 local government areas to ensure that no community was left behind.

According to him, sustained engagement with traditional rulers, religious leaders, community organisations, women and youth groups has strengthened peace-building efforts, improved security and restored confidence among farmers, businesses and investors.

The governor described Adams as an accomplished public servant, seasoned tax administrator and institution builder whose leadership had transformed KADIRS into one of Nigeria’s leading revenue agencies.

He credited his running mate with strengthening the state’s internally generated revenue through innovation, transparency and professionalism, thereby enhancing government’s capacity to invest in critical sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure and agriculture.

Uba Sani further described Adams as a man of integrity, humility and competence, saying his emergence underscored the administration’s commitment to merit, character and inclusive leadership.

He urged Kaduna residents to view the nomination as a step towards deepening unity and shared prosperity rather than through the lenses of religion, ethnicity or geography.

“As we look towards 2027, I invite every son and daughter of Kaduna State to see this moment not through the narrow prism of religion, ethnicity or geography, but through the broader vision of the Kaduna we are building together; a Kaduna where every child can dream without fear, every community can flourish, every faith is respected and every citizen has an equal stake in our common future,” he said.

The governor expressed confidence that his administration had laid a solid foundation for a more peaceful, secure and prosperous Kaduna State, pledging to consolidate on its achievements and continue pursuing policies that promote unity, fairness and sustainable development.
