Kaduna Geographic Information Service (KADGIS) has said it reinstated more than 150 titles that were unjustly revoked during the administration of former governor Nasir El-Rufai and resolved over 5,000 land disputes.

Director General of KADGIS, Dr Bashir Garba Ibrahim who disclosed this at a town hall meeting, said Governor Uba Sani had directed the agency to resolve cases that were inherited from past administrations.

Ibrahim also said KADGIS had introduced reforms to ease land administration in Kaduna State under the present administration.

He listed ‘land agents’ registration and accreditation as one of the key reforms, including providing National Identification Number(NIN) and Bank Verification Number(BVN) for land title processing.

Ibrahim disclosed that communities that were ‘’displaced at Alhudahuda Zaria, following the demolition of 92 houses in 2015, have been given alternative plots.’’

‘’The dispute between Nigerian College of Aviation Technology(NCAT) Zaria, and Graceland community, where over 200 properties were demolished in 2021 over alleged land encroachment, has also been resolved,’’ he added.

The director general also stated that new land titles and alternative plots had been given to former residents of Malali low cost Kaduna whose houses numbering 80 were demolished in 2021.

He further disclosed that the land titles of CANES Properties had been restored, adding that SCOA had been given alternative plots at Kudenden, just as the dispute between Olam and host community had been resolved.

Ibrahim argued that the town hall meeting which was attended by professional bodies, traditional leaders, land agents, government agencies and other stakeholders, was convened to strengthen ‘’transparency, efficiency and citizens-centred land administration in Kaduna State.
