Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Liman, thereafter declared, “A Bill for a Law to Establish the Kaduna State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency and for Related Matters, 2025, is hereby passed into law”.

Speaking shortly after plenary, the chairman, House Committee on Information, NGOs, and Development Partners, Hon. Henry Marah, who represents Jaba Constituency, said the bill was aimed at positioning Kaduna State to benefit from emerging opportunities in the global digital space.

Hon. Marah said the law would equip citizens particularly children, students, and journalists with the digital knowledge and skills needed to adapt to changing technological trends and enhance service delivery across sectors.

“The bill seeks to ensure that Kaduna people are digitally empowered. It will create jobs, provide sources of livelihood, and generate revenue for the state government,” he said.

He further disclosed that once the agency is established, the committee will work with the supervising ministry to set up ICT centres in all local government areas, particularly in hard-to-reach communities, to provide residents with access to the internet and computer facilities.

“These centres will enable students and community members to engage with the latest technology, and carry out tasks such as JAMB registration with ease, without travelling to distant towns,” he added.
