Kaduna State Committee on Private Health Establishment has commenced the sealing of illegal and unaccredited colleges of health Sciences in the state.

Speaking on the exercise, the commissioner for Health, Hajiya Umma Ahmed, urged members of the public to seek admission only into accredited institutions to avoid wasting time and resources on schools whose certificates were not recognised.

The commissioner stated that the exercise was part of ongoing efforts to ensure that private health institutions operate in accordance with established rules and regulations for the effective training of healthcare workers.

She said the action was to enforce guidelines for the operation of private health institutions and prevent unapproved, unaccredited institutions from misleading the public under the guise of training healthcare professionals, “as well as to stop them from producing unqualified health workers, which poses a serious risk to public health and safety.”
