Kaduna State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the state government over the non-implementation of the new N72,000 minimum wage.
In a statement released after an emergency meeting of its State Executive Council in Kaduna yesterday, the union said the ultimatum followed failed efforts to get the government to act on its earlier approval of the new wage.

The statement signed by the state president, Comrade Rayanu Isyaku Turunku and the state secretary, Comrade Sam Kaiwa, said non-implementation of the minimum wage had plunged local government workers into hardship amid the prevailing economic realities.

NULGE warned that if the government fails to address the matter within the stipulated 21 days, workers across the 23 local government areas of the state would embark on an indefinite strike and mass protests.

While noting that it remained committed to cordial relations with Governor Uba Sani’s administration, the union urged the government to take urgent steps to avert an industrial crisis at the grassroots.
