The Kano State House of Assembly has passed five amended bills to create the office of a deputy managing director for some agencies in the state.

The bills are the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (amendment) Bill 2025, the Kano State Water Resources and Engineering Construction Agency(amendment) Bill 2025, the Kano State Broadcasting Corporation(amendment) Bill 2025, the Kano State Television Corporation(amendment) Bill 2025, and the Kano Printing Press (amendment) Bill 2025.

The bills were passed by the speaker, who presided over the plenary after it was considered in the committee of the whole house and third reading by the clerk, Bashir Diso.

Speaking on the importance of creating a deputy’s office for the affected agencies, the majority leader of the house, Hon. Lawan Husseini, said the deputy managing director can stand in for a managing director anytime he is not on the seat instead of allowing the agencies’ activities to be at a standstill without progress.
