The Kano State Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofarmata, has resigned his appointment with immediate effect.

Kofarmata announced his resignation in a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday, citing irreconcilable ideological differences with current administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

“I wish to categorically state that I hereby resign my appointment as the Commissioner and Member of the Kano State Executive Council. I took this decision in good faith, as I cannot continue to work under the government that derailed from the ideology that brought it to power,” he stated.

Despite his decision to step down, the former Commissioner expressed gratitude to key political actors and supporters who contributed to the emergence of the administration. “I extend my gratitude to the national leader of the NNPP, Engr. Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and the entire the entire people who stood with us and made the journey successful.”

Kofarmata ended his statement with strong affirmations of loyalty to the NNPP and the Kwankwasiyya movement, saying: “Long Live NNPP – Kwankwasiyya Movement! Long Live Kano State!! Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!”

His resignation comes amid growing political realignments within the Kano State government following the recent defection of Governor Yusuf from NNPP without the blessing of his political mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Government was yet to issue any official response to the resignation.
