The Kano State Government has disowned reports linking it to an alleged land swap deal involving the Federal Government College, Kano, insisting it has no role in the matter.

The government, in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mustapha Muhammad, said it was neither involved in any arrangement nor aware of negotiations concerning the property.

It stressed that the college remains under the exclusive control of the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education, which it said is solely responsible for decisions relating to the institution.

The statement read, “The Kano State Government is not involved in any arrangement, negotiation or agreement concerning the said property.”

It described as misleading and unfounded attempts to associate the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf or any of its officials with the purported transaction.

The government, however, acknowledged concerns raised by members of the public over the reported deal and urged the media to uphold professional standards in their reportage.

It called on journalists to adhere to the principles of accuracy, fairness and responsible journalism by verifying information before publication.
