Authorities in Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State have ordered the immediate closure of Al-Hadeed Private School, Inusawa, following allegations of sexual abuse involving a teacher now facing rape charges in court.
The directive was issued by the Education Councillor of the local government, Malam Abdullahi Wakili, in a statement released on Monday, May 18, 2026.
According to the statement, the shutdown followed allegations that a teacher in the school abused four underage female pupils, prompting urgent intervention by education authorities.
Local government chairman, Hon. Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu, said the council would ensure the case is fully pursued and that justice is served through due legal processes.
He also reaffirmed the council’s commitment to child protection and stricter safeguards across schools in the area to prevent similar incidents.
The suspect, identified as Uncle Kamal, has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in the No-man’s-land area of Kano on a rape charge.
The court ordered his remand in custody and adjourned the matter until June 9, 2026, for further hearing.
