Kano State government is sponsoring 141,715 students who passed the Senior Secondary Qualifying Examination (SSQE) for the 2025 National Examinations Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Educations Board (NABTEB) and National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) examinations.

The state commissioner for Education, Dr Ali Makoda, made this known while briefing journalists in Kano.

He explained that the state is sponsoring all eligible indigenous candidates from public schools who scored at least five credits from the SSQE. “A total of 141,715 candidates from public schools under Kano Education Resource Department (KERD), the Science Board, and Arabic and Islamic Education Department (AIED) sat for the exams with over 75 percent qualified for state sponsorship,” he stated.

According to him, the initiative is costing the state over N3 billion, and is part of the government’s aggressive efforts to enhance educational access, promote academic excellence and reduce financial burdens on families across the state, especially the vulnerable.

While reaffirming the commitment of the state government under the leadership of Governor Abba Yusuf to youth development and economic growth through education, the commissioner urged principals to ensure that all eligible candidates unconditionally access their results transparently.
