Governor Umaru Radda revealed that N2.9 billion of this funding will be allocated towards emergency flood control efforts across the state.

Speaking at the launch of financial aid for flood victims, he highlighted the extensive damage caused by the floods, affecting multiple local government areas.

“The floods have severely damaged homes, farmlands, roads, and public infrastructure, leaving thousands of residents homeless and exacerbating environmental degradation. In response, the Federal Government has provided crucial support to assist the victims and help them rebuild their lives”, he said

According to the governor, a technical committee set up by the state government conducted a detailed assessment and found that the disaster seriously impacted 1,067 people.

The state government has also allocated N200 million for building materials, distributed to 1,772 individuals whose homes were partially damaged to help them rebuild and restore their livelihoods.

“The total financial aid allocated to these victims amounts to N451.8 million. Beyond the monetary assistance, the Katsina State government is dedicated to fully ensuring that those affected receive comprehensive support to recover from this disaster,” Governor Radda stated.
